What helps soften the impact of a show where we’re going to have to listen to John Lovitz and Lisa Rinna sing? Why, Captain Jack Harkness, of course! That’s right everyone, John Barrowman has just been announced as the host of ABC’s summer series Sing Your Face Off!

The show will run on the network for a 6-episode arc wherein it will feature 5 celebrities emulating the looks and songs of iconic musicians/singers. And who does one hire to judge such a contest? How about 80s pop star Debbie Gibson and King of Impersonations Darrell Hammond? Interesting choices, I’d say!

The five celebrities signed up to compete are as eclectic as the judging panel and host: ex-Skid Row front man Sebastian Bach, comedian Jon Lovitz, Toronto Raptors player Landry Fields, teenage Disney Channel actress-singer China Anne McClain and former soap star Lisa Rinna.

So, what do you think about this whole idea for the show? Will you tune in to watch?

On Monday, MacFarlane announced on his Twitter that after his first mixed reviewed hosting gig, he will not be hosting the Oscars again next year.  The tweet read:

“Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix.”

Who do you want to see hosting the Oscars next year? My vote goes to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey!

Bravo Ellen!

In a recent response to the inflammatory comments made by Abercrombie and Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries (“only cool, good-looking people should wear A&F”) Ellen has said the most important thing one should say in response:

“Fitch please!”

In a hilarious rant, Ellen breaks down what is silly about the Abercrombie and Fitch brand and why one shouldn’t strive to fit in the stores rigid sizing chart, as well as showcasing the smallest size available in store.

Director Bryan Singer has tweeted various first looks via his official Twitter account (@BryanSinger) and states that Lawrence is back as “a vengeful Mystique”.

He’s also showcased pictures with him and Peter Dinklage looking over his work for X-Men, however Dinklage’s role is still unknown as of this time.

If you’re anything like me, you’re chomping at the bit for Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming monster movie Pacific Rim! What’s not to be excited for? There are giant monsters, giant robots, and Idris Elba! As one of my friends said, the only way it could possibly be more exciting would be if there were a giant Idris Elba, too!

And guess what? It could happen. Well, it probably won’t, but there’s room for it, since there is going to be a sequel! The film’s backers saw so much promise in Pacific Rim that they green lit a sequel – before the first was even finished! Del Toro himself has excitedly said that, “F*** yeah!” he has some great ideas already for a sequel!

Are you as excited as I am for this sure-to-be box office smash? Take a look at a brand new TV spot below:

Pacific Rim comes out July 12th!

Anyone who knows me knows I love the Eurovision. I’m Australian. It’s in my blood. My husband accepted a London job offer on the strength of, among other things, being able to vote in the competition.  After discovering and totally falling for Jedward when they represented Ireland in 2011, I followed them last year to the contest in Baku, when they once again took on Europe. I had the time of my life. I was hooked.

This year however I wavered. Did I want to go to Sweden? Could anything live up to the life-changing experience that was Baku? I needn’t have worried. After finally booking my trip in March this year, I managed to secure a ticket the last rehearsal before the grand final. It was a seat up in the gods, but it was only £17, and well worth every penny of it.

Earlier this week, Angelina Jolie revealed that she had undergone a preventative double mastectomy. She made the decision after being tested positive for the BRCA1 gene. This gene is linked to breast cancer and gave her an 87% chance of contracting the cancer.

After disclosing this, the media and other celebrities have called her a hero, stating that what she did was brave.

The music group, Garbage, begs to differ.

Following the news, the group took to Twitter and asked: “Why is Angelina Jolie talking about her tests + preventative procedures most women can’t afford, being considered heroic by the media?”

Why shouldn’t she be seen as a hero? She’s taking matters into her own hands to make sure that she doesn’t put her life in jeopardy. If everybody who knew they were at risk of cancer took preventative measures, we’d have less cancer in the world.

Jolie says that she spoke out about it to educate other women who may be in the same position that there are ways to stop it before it even starts. Her partner, Brad Pitt, fully supports her, saying: “It was really important to her to share the story, and that others would understand it doesn’t have to be a scary thing. In fact, it can be an empowering thing, and something that makes you stronger, and us stronger.”

Points to both of them for having the courage to not only do this,  but for being brave enough and strong enough to share with the world. I wish her all the best in her recovery.

Ever since the Simon Cowell left the then hit American Idol (let it be noted ratings have dipped since he departed) to bring The X-Factor to the US the show has yet to find its footing. There have been host changes, two winners that can’t seem to break into the music industry and a continuously rotating panel of judges.  But despite all the bumps in the road, Mr. Cowell refuses to give up and he’s officially named the two newest judges; “Destiny’s Child” founding member Kelly Rowland and Latin singer Paulina Rubio.

You read that correctly. It’s just Simon and three very attractive women. Are you shocked? I actually am after there was strong speculation at one point that Ne-Yo would join the panel.

The bold move makes Factor the first major U.S. broadcast singing competition series to have a panel that is dominated by the ladies. The ensemble represents a diverse collection of music fans of varying ages: Lovato is a pop singer, Rowland leans toward R&B, and Rubio sings Latin dance music. Cowell lends his experience as a music producer, reality TV icon and epic talent spotter.

Let it also be known the new hires have experiencing with judging in the past. Rowland was part of the UK version of X-Factor, while Rubio judged the Mexican version of The Voice.

Nicki Minaj looks like the next judge to be leaving American Idol. The announcement comes shortly after Randy Jackson announced that he’ll be leaving after 12 seasons.

An inside source told US Weekly:It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to ‘Idol.’ She’s okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”

Minaj has been in a feud with fellow judge Mariah Carey since the beginning of the season, which producers thought would bring in ratings at first, according to M.J. Santilli.

As of now, Carey and Keith Urban haven’t made any comments on their future with Idol. There are rumors that the show will be getting a new producer and an entirely new panel of judges next season.

All of us Anchorman fans enjoyed those funny and cheesy one liners from the first film and got a load of laughs as well. This second teaser trailer for the film has brought even more one liners and laughs to us, as we eagerly await the release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

The gang takes a moment in the newest teaser to give us some of their best one liners. The narrator of the trailer tell us “Jesus, McArthur, and Jay Z, the great ones always return. And when they do, one thing is for sure: the hair will be perfect.” Steve Carell’s one liner appears to be the only one that finds itself covered in nothing but FAIL sauce! His BEST attempt of a one liner is wishing us all a Happy Easter, which is funny considering that the movie doesn’t come out until December.

Christina Applegate reprises her role as Veronica Corningstone, alongside Vince Vaughn, Kristin Wiig, James Marsden, Luke Wilson, and Chris Parnell. Cameos include: Kayne West, Nicole Kidman, John C Rielly and Harrison Ford. Really? Harrison Ford?! That’s gonna be interesting….

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits theaters on December 20th of this year.

Vanessa Lengies, who was introduced on Glee back in season three, will bid farewell to the series.  Lengies played Sugar Motta, a new member of the New Directions with a wealthy father and self-diagnosed Asperger’s syndrome.  Although her character aspired to be the star of the group in the beginning, she remained in the background.

Lengies told TV Guide that working on the FOX show was “one of the biggest opportunities of my life, and I met some of the most fantastic people.” But she also acknowledged that she really didn’t have an opportunity to act, which was very apparent in the last season.

But that’s definitely changing, as her pilot Mixology was called to series by ABC.  The show follows ten singles on one night in the same bar. Lengies plays Kacey, a bubbly waitress looking for love.

Since the sitcom is set for a mid-season premiere, that means she still has time to do a proper goodbye. Well, if the Glee writers permit it. But how exactly does she want to go? It looks like she was inspired by the fandom: “I would love to have them introduce a time machine and reveal that Sugar was a visitor from the future.”

I definitely want to see a proper goodbye for Sugar, but I don’t know about a time machine…How would you like to see her go?

Don’t forget to check out the Mixology preview!

Recording artist, Miguel performed at last night’s Billboard Music Awards and injured fans in the process. He had the audience swooning as he performed his hit “Adorn”, showing off some nice dance moves to accompany his soulful  vocals, but then he decided to jump over fans to get to the other side of the stage.

And let’s just say things did not go as smoothly as he thought. He barely made it to the other side of the stage and took two fans down. One girl was clearly hurt as we saw her slowly slip down to the floor. But the show must go on. I don’t think Miguel noticed at that moment, and the audience members around the girl seemed to be unfazed by the incident, as well.

image

The singer later took to his twitter account to acknowledge the accident and in a backstage interview Miguel was seen with the fan. She was icing her arm, but still had a smile on her face. So all seems to be well.

It was definitely one of the craziest moments on last night’s award show. Don’t you agree?

Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, we children of the 90’s once embraced the joy of playing Sonic The Hedgehog on our Sega’s. Ever since the Nintendo company got there hands on it, a lot of improvements have been made. Those of us who have enjoyed playing it over the decades still find any reason in the world to play it. Nintendo has decided that they will extend the exclusive deal with Sonic The Hedgehog into three more games.

Nintendo has unveiled that Mario and Sonic At The Sochi 2014 Winter Games and Sonic: The Lost World, which will be released on the Wii U and 3DS.  Sega confirmed that there is one more project that has not been announced at this time. All details have remained very hush hush for the time being.

A next gen Sonic The Hedgehog game had been rumored to come out in February, but that has long since been proven to not be the case. The development team has said that production on Sonic has been set to start before Sonic Generations. Sega is hoping for a 2013 release for the current systems, as well as the next generation of consoles.

The Mario and Sonic Winter Games will have such events at skiing, snowboarding, figure skating and curling. This game is set to also have dream events in the worlds of Mario and Sonic, these dream events give the players special powers and abilities to perform moves that are clearly not possible in real life. Aside from enhanced HD graphics, the game will also offer Gamepad and Wii remote support.

Mulder and Scully fans rejoice; we have a potentially exciting time ahead of us, if Gillian Anderson is correct in a comment made during her “Reddit Ask Me Anything” interview.  In the Reddit session on May 16th, a fan asked her whether we could ever expect a third installment in the“X-Files” films.  Gillian’s response was one of quiet optimism and she went so far to say:

“that there is a very good chance that Chris is in the process of writing it, and as with any creative endeavour, it needs time and space and patience, and I have no doubt that at some point, when it’s the right time, and he is happy with it, it will see the light of day, and that will be the beginning.”

Fans last saw Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson) in 2008 movie The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Chris Carter the show creator always said the story would continue. This has not yet materialised.

Like many fans of the show, I would welcome a new X-Files movie as I would love to see where Mulder and Scully are now, and how conspiracy theory believer Mulder stands in this new post 9-11 world. So Chris Carter, please give us the chance to see if the truth is really out there.

If you can’t wait for your X-Files fix, IDW Publishing will be starting to publish an in-canon Season 10 comic in July.
